Janette D.

Coaching is all-too-often held up as an easy way to make milllions, that anyone can learn to do.

There's a guy offering 10 hours training for $7 with a certificate at the end. That is so fucking dangerous, I can't begin to tell you. Someone with ONLY that kind of training is at risk of causing great harm to their people.

I once had someone tell me they thought they'd be a great coach because in their current job, they always gave people really good advice. That is quite literally not the job of a coach.

There's a popular myth which says if you can talk to people, you can coach.

That's like saying because you can type, you can write something that will win a Pulitzer or a Tony.

That's like saying because you can follow the instructions on the cake mix pack, you can be head chef in a five-star restaurant.

I'm proud of my profession.

My industry is still in its infancy. Or maybe its teen years.

It is still trying to figure out exactly who it is and what it's for, and it's certainly had  teething problems and identity crises.

I am delighted to be a student again, refreshing my own training and paying attention to my professional development.

I'm especially delighted to be doing in via The Coaching Guild BECAUSE I know there is rigour, and the standards are high.

If you're thinking of hiring a coach, look for a Coaching Guild graduate.

If you're thinking of becoming a coach, this is the place to be.New Paragraph
