Five Legit Reasons to NOT Choose The Coaching Guild for Your Coach Training

Mar 14, 2024

We know we aren't for everyone.

1. Seeking a Traditional Approach: If you're looking for a more traditional, cookie-cutter coaching program with a one-size-fits-all curriculum and rigid structure, The Coaching Guild might not be your cup of tea. Our program is anything but conventional—we embrace diversity, creativity, and individuality, offering a unique and unconventional approach to coaching training

.

Generally speaking, I can look at a coach’s website or talk to them for a couple of minutes and tell you where they trained and who they’ve master-minded with. Most programs intentionally or unintentionally create cookie-cutter coaches and guru mini-me’s. Our goal has always been to help students step into themselves so boldly that we barely leave a fingerprint on their individuality in the world.

If you’re looking for a map to follow, a look to replicate, a script to work with, The Coaching Guild will not be a comfortable place for you to train.

2. Preferring a Quick Fix or a Quick Certification: Let's be real—building a successful coaching practice takes time, dedication, and hard work. If you're searching for a program that promises overnight success or guarantees six-figure incomes without putting in the effort, you won't find it here. The Coaching Guild is all about honest expectations and sustainable growth, not quick fixes or empty promises.

In fact, we cannot even tell you with any certainty how long the program will take. We work in small cohorts and move through the training at the pace that’s right for the group. Chances are very high it will take you longer to finish your training at The Coaching Guild than any other training program on the market. Most coaches are working with clients long before they officially graduate. So, we do not rush anything just to stay on a calendar. We do what’s best for the group just like we train our students to do what’s best for the client.

3. Resisting Diversity and Inclusivity: At The Coaching Guild, we celebrate diversity in all its forms—we believe that everyone has a unique voice, perspective, and experience to bring to the table. If you're uncomfortable with embracing diversity, challenging the status quo, or confronting your own biases, you may feel out of place in our inclusive and supportive community.

Someone recently told me after signing up for the next cohort they would be sitting out the portion of our training about sexual identity and orientation because it was not in alignment with their religious beliefs. I refunded their deposit on the spot. This has happened more than once.

Student cohorts are selected based on a variety of criteria. However, the most important part of our formula is to create groups of people that have the least in common. If diversity in any form makes you queasy, chances of starting and completing our program are very unlikely.

4. Avoiding Personal Growth: Coaching isn't just about learning a set of skills—it's also about personal transformation and growth. If you're resistant to doing the inner work, confronting your fears, and stepping outside of your comfort zone, you may struggle to fully engage with our training program. The Coaching Guild is committed to empowering coaches to become the best versions of themselves, both personally and professionally.

Every student who has gone through The Coaching Guild will tell you it was one of the most valuable personal growth journeys they have ever done. Many students undergo massive personal transformations during the program and sometimes that looks and feels more like breakdown than breakthrough. However, the capacity of our students to grow and shift is expanded by being in a community of peers and instructors that can hold space in a very unique way.

Everyone thinks they are down for personal growth. However, the truth is, not everyone has the bandwidth for the kind of growth this program requires.

5. Seeking a "Guru" Mentality: If you're drawn to programs that promote a "guru" mentality, where one person holds all the answers and dictates the course of your journey, The Coaching Guild may not be the right fit for you. Our program is built on collaboration, community, and collective wisdom—we believe that every voice is valuable, and no one person has all the answers. If you're looking for a more hierarchical or authoritarian approach, you may want to explore other options.

We are not running an “it girl” club.
We do not hold space for an environment that nurtures cliques and “inner-circles”

At first glance most people are going to say they wouldn’t want those things in their training - but many would-be-coaches actually do buy into training programs because they want to belong in a certain kind of way in a certain kind of place.

Coaching Guild students build relationships with their peers that will last a lifetime. However, if you’re looking for credibility or social clout based on proximity to a specific teacher or guru, our program is not going to be your jam.

If you are interested in coach training done very differently, hit me up for a no-pressure, no BS, no trip, and fall into a sales funnel conversation. Let's talk about what's possible for you as a coach.
