I don't think this is a hot take. I think it's practical.
If you are a coach or a therapist and you are MAGA, support ICE, , and / or voted for the Trump regime, I need you to stop hiding behind “neutral” branding and “safe space” language.
Not because you owe strangers your politics.
Because your clients deserve INFORMED CONSENT.
You cannot share “safe space” with a human whose life is being ripped apart by policy, whose family is living in fear, whose nervous system is living on red alert, and then turn around and support the machinery that is doing the ripping. You cannot offer “healing” with one hand while voting for harm with the other and call that ethical.
That is not neutrality. That is duplicity.
And before anybody starts with “but I can separate my personal beliefs from my professional work,” let’s be real. People are not stupid. The body knows. The room knows. Power leaks.
If you support systems that target immigrants, women, queer people, trans people, disabled people, poor people, people of color, and anyone who is not protected by proximity to whiteness and wealth, you are not a safe practitioner for the people being targeted. Full stop.
You might be kind. You might be charming. You might be qualified. You might even believe you are helping.
But if your politics require other people’s suffering, your care is not trustworthy to the people living under that boot.
So here is my request, and it is simple.
Raise your hand.
Let your marketing match your ballot. Use a MAGA hat as your profile picture. A big red, white, and blue social media banner might help. Family photos at the local KKK picnic would be appreciated.
Be honest about what you support so you can attract your people and stop fishing in the waters of the people you are actively endangering. Stop selling to the masses like you care about “the huddled masses” when you support the systems that are crushing them.
And if you feel offended by the idea that your clients might want to know who you are, ask yourself why you need secrecy to do your work.
If you truly believe your stance is righteous, you should not need camouflage.
Because here is what women are learning, painfully, in real time.
De-centering men is not only personal. It is political.
Exhaustion from a churning news cycle that feels like a threat is not only personal. It’s political.
Living in a state of intentional invisibility in all areas of your life, because you are afraid of being kidnapped in front of your kids, is not just personal. It’s political.
And so is care. Care is political.
Care without integrity is just branding.
And the era of beige “I help everyone” marketing is over.
If you are safe for the harmed, act like it.
If you are not, stop pretending you are.
Let people choose with their eyes open.
